-There has been a casting call for a new character for season 9 of Smallville by the name of Mason who ended up being Zod.

Metallo:
-Brian Austin Green has been cast as kryptonite villian, Metallo for at least two episodes.
-Metallo will be working at the Daily Planet, using the name John Corben.
-Soon after mild-mannered John Corben begins his "Daily Planet" gig, "his fate takes a horrific twist that will change his destiny forever." (TVGuide)
-“We know that there’s multiple versions of Metallo. We picked one of the different versions and I think people will realize which one after the first episode.” (Kelly Souders)

Oliver Queen/Green Arrow:
-According to Justin Hartley, a portion of [season 9] will be about Oliver confronting his demons. "I think he is going to struggle with the things he has been afforded [as a result of] his powers," he says. "He has sacrificed things and done things that haunt him… It's bad stuff. -"Lois comes back from the future and she starts getting flashes and she thinks she has amnesia. She thinks something is wrong with her," says Durance. "I know that they're going to develop all sorts of scenarios for her to try to piece all those things together like a big puzzle to figure out what's going on, and then maybe be the lynch pin key answer to some of Clark's questions, which is a different place for her to be."
